This turn of the century home had beautiful lines but needed a lot of work.  The house was basically gutted, and when we rebuilt the kitchen we tried to replicate as much of the original detail as possible.   The windows are all new, but we installed them below counter height as they were in the original structure.  The shorter cabinet at the right shows the full height of the window. The long transom window above the sink matched an existing one in the adjacent pantry.  We blended the painted white cabinets and soapstone tops with quarter sawn oak built-ins at the sink and the large which has paneled columns to provide a seating area around it.  The glass doors in the cabinets are proportioned to match the windows, and the doors have nickel turn latches.
